There is a new trend in buying Gig Harbor real estate . The majority of new homeowners are young, single women. Actually, there was a 6 percent jump in female buyers between 2001 and 2005.

Most young singles are looking for a safe neighborhood, close proximity to entertainment, and affordability. Recent immigrants and minorities make up even more of the buying market. To build equity so that a bigger home can be acquired, many are beginning with condos. Finally, retirees and empty-nesters are downsizing and migrating to active adult communities. They are through with huge houses and would rather live in smaller homes, nearby friends and entertainment.

Summer is on its way and Gig Harbor homeowners are prepared. BBQ's and time by the pool are essential and plenty of Gig Harbor residents spend time in their yard come summertime. Although a garden loaded with summer flowers is wonderful, a garden loaded with bugs is not. Use materials already in your house instead of abrasive chemicals which may cause cancer.

In a spray bottle, blend dishwashing soap and water to exterminate annoying aphids. Every couple of days, spray the leaves and stems of tainted plants and the aphids ought to move on. You can even try this on slugs. A saltwater mixture can destroy mites. Chili powder and water are a great way to combat ants and caterpillars.

Use the food chain if all else fails. Ladybugs feed on aphids, scales, and mites and praying mantis eat all kinds of insects. Spiders, wasps, and bees are actually a normal part of the food chain and will destroy unwanted insects. Using non-toxic products on your garden is better for you and your Gig Harbor home .

There hasn't been a better time to buy a piece of real estate, even though the Gig Harbor real estate market is slowing down. As soon as you found a home in a hot market, you had to jump on it.

You can take your time to search for the ideal home now, since there is a greater choice in housing. The present market also allows more room for negotiations. Buyers have much more say at the table, although the overall process may take a bit longer. Interest rates remain somewhat low, as of now. Rates might not be at 5.84%, as they were in 2004, but you are still getting a pretty good deal, overall.

It is always smart to invest in a home. Whether you are buying to turn over, or buying to keep, owning a piece of real estate is going to yield great tax benefits.

An increase in exterior living space is the main addition in Gig Harbor home remodels. The need for patios, decks, and outdoor kitchens jumped from 47 percent to 64 percent, based on data from the American Institute of Architects. Pools, tennis courts, and gazebos are also highly ranked.

In today's market, more and more homeowners are shifting to single-story homes with open floor plans. Easier mobility with expanded hallways and fewer steps are what baby boomers, now reaching retirement age, need. Open homes with far less boundaries are what younger homebuyers look for. Will you be adding a basketball court to your Gig Harbor home any time soon?

So many more people in their 20s are securing Gig Harbor real estate . For twentysomethings, purchasing a piece of real estate means more of a sense of responsibility and commitment. However, the payback is desirable. People in their 20s are more likely to buy real estate than they were 20 years ago.

Money may be tight, but the freedom of being self-sufficient is worth a lot. Instead of paying rent to someone else, several young homeowners would rather pay a mortgage. A credit card might have to finance a leaky sink or a new dishwasher, but at 25, a Gig Harbor real estate investment is worth a lot.

When dealing with Gig Harbor real estate , the standard Nuclear Family is becoming a thing of the past. The level of non-family households have gone up slowly over the previous 70 years. Instead of buying houses in the suburbs, singles, single parents, young professional couples, baby boomers, and empty nesters are now buying homes in high-rise condo buildings.

Different residents are leaning towards high-rises for different reasons. The majority of the young, individuals need entertainment and culture, first-time buyers need affordability, and empty nesters seek a lifestyle change. This trend is hitting downtown communities all around the U.S..

There is some competition for buyers in the Gig Harbor condo market . There are several things you can do to set your condominium above the others and guarantee a quicker sale. To start, be sure the price is right. Price your condo off the local market and nearby neighborhood. More brokers mean more exposure so invite many brokers over for an open house.

For every possible buyer, generate an individual "resource list." Empty nesters will be interested in fine dining or museums while families are searching for local schools or parks. Make the kitchen and bathroom a point of interest. Putting money towards improvements here will pay off big time. Incentives, such as a plasma TV or grocery store gift certificate, are a great way to bring in buyers.

The sale of your Gig Harbor home could be affected by a lot of things. Fleas, termites, and bugs should not be the deal breaker. Hire an exterminator before you even set your home on the market. Make sure all evidence of bugs are gone before a prospective buyer even enters your home.

If you own animals, make sure fleas will not be a problem by taking preventative steps. Give your pet's flea medicine and use a fogger to eliminate any remaining fleas. Make sure Fido stays outdoors until after your home is sold. You are going to save time and money in the end by taking care of these steps now.

The designs have been drawn and the wallpaper has been picked out. Your Gig Harbor home is ready for a remodel. However, be careful, the value of your house could drop from one mistake.

Over expanding must be avoided. Your house might be the best on the block, but when the time comes, it will be harder to sell. It's important to avoid making your house something it is not. Ktichens should stay kitchens and bathrooms should remain bathrooms.

Don't alter the general style or architectural design. A remodel is a big cost, make sure you properly budget. The majority under budget, in time and money, by 20-30 percent. Unless you're a pro, hire someone to complete the job.

Make sure you keep up on all maintenance. Clear the windows regularly, keep the driveway clean, and the shrubs nice and neat. Following these tips means that the remodel of your Gig Harbor home will be a success.
