Summer is on its way and this means certain things to Gig Harbor homeowners . Some Gig Harbor residents spend time in their backyard come summertime. Though a garden loaded with summer veggies is great, a garden filled with insects is not. Toxic chemicals can cause cancer. Instead, try to use materials already in your home.

Annoying aphids can be exterminated by putting a mixture of dishwashing soap and water into a spray bottle. Every couple of days, spray the leaves and stems of contaminated plants and the aphids ought to move on. Slugs could be treated like this as well. A saltwater concoction can eliminate mites. A good way to combat ants and caterpillars is to use a chili powder and water paste on their trails.

Use the food chain if everything else fails. Ladybugs feed on aphids, scales, and mites and praying mantis eat all sorts of insects. Spiders, wasps, and bees will exterminate unwanted bugs and are a part of a normal food chain. Using alternative materials on your garden is better for you and your Gig Harbor home .
