An increase in exterior living space is the main addition in Gig Harbor home remodels. The need for patios, decks, and outdoor kitchens jumped from 47 percent to 64 percent, based on data from the American Institute of Architects. Pools, tennis courts, and gazebos are also highly ranked.

In today's market, more and more homeowners are shifting to single-story homes with open floor plans. Easier mobility with expanded hallways and fewer steps are what baby boomers, now reaching retirement age, need. Open homes with far less boundaries are what younger homebuyers look for. Will you be adding a basketball court to your Gig Harbor home any time soon?
