Summer is in full bloom. With heat waves circulating across most of the U.S., energy to run the AC has become scarce. There are a lot of things you can do to cool down if your Gig Harbor home is without an AC.
First off, place something frozen in your hand for as long as possible. This is going to cool down your body for almost an hour and will decrease your temperature by as much as 3 degrees F. Stop if it starts to hurt. Even if you are not thirsty, drink lots of H2O. You must compensate for all of the fluids lost from perspiration. Wear airy, loose-fitting clothes if you have got to go outdoors, however it's better to stay away from direct sunlight.
Shut off all the lights and all other heat sources, such as the oven. Take a cool shower or bath, making sure you get your hair wet. Place a wet towel behind your neck, on your forehead, on the inside of your wrists and elbows, and on the backs of your knees. These points will naturally cool the rest of your body down.
If all else fails, go to the movies, mall, or other air-conditioned location. People have lived for thousands of years without AC. Roughing it for a couple of days should not be that difficult. More ...

You can add value to your Gig Harbor home by renovating your master bedroom or deck. When the time comes to resell, certain renovations might end up costing you.
In hot, dry areas, putting in a swimming pool is a requirement. The thought of pool maintenance is enough to turn buyers off in several of the cooler regions. Families with younger children may not want to purchase a home with a pool. The new room you added on is a great place for the kids to play, but you might not have considered how it looks from the outside. A poorly planned addition, one that does not fit the rest of the house, will be hard to sell.
When following design trends, be wary. Certain aspects will date a home, just like green shag carpet. When personalizing your Gig Harbor home, be smart and think ahead. More ...

The windows have been selected and the blueprints are drawn. It has come time to remodel your Gig Harbor home. However, be careful, the value of your home might be lowered by one mistake.
First off, stay away from over expanding. Your home might be the best on the block, but when the time comes, it will be harder to sell. It's vital to avoid making your home something it is not. Leave kitchens as kitchens and bathrooms as bathrooms.
The general style or architectural design should not be transformed either. Be sure to budget properly for your remodel. Time and money is frequently under budgeted by 20-30 percent. Unless you are an expert, hire someone to do the job.
All upkeep should be properly maintained. Clean the gutters regularly, keep the driveway clear, and the shrubs nice and neat. The remodel of your Gig Harbor home will be a success by following these tips. More ...

Numerous communities are looking to the past for city design. Ancient cities were designed in a rectangular group with a system of roads, public and private buildings, a theater, and an amphitheater.
Some elements of design are timeless and should not be forgotten. This should be remembered by developers and anybody involved in Gig Harbor real estate . Environmental issues are among the major concerns for new developments. Much like the earlier developments, contemporary developers are building around forests, drainage corridors, and mountain ranges, rather than removing them.
Objectives are set up so that eighty-percent of development has to be within five minutes of 80 percent of all activities for easy "walkability." Perhaps the most significant tie to ancient civilization is the fact that improvement relies less on the house and a good deal more on the community. More ...

A few cities have been declared International Dark Sky Cities and anti-light pollution regulations have been endorsed in hundreds of other cities and subdivisions. Installing dark sky lamps in your Gig Harbor home could be your next step in design. More ...
