Summer is in full bloom. With heat waves circulating across most of the U.S., energy to run the AC has become scarce. There are a lot of things you can do to cool down if your Gig Harbor home is without an AC.
First off, place something frozen in your hand for as long as possible. This is going to cool down your body for almost an hour and will decrease your temperature by as much as 3 degrees F. Stop if it starts to hurt. Even if you are not thirsty, drink lots of H2O. You must compensate for all of the fluids lost from perspiration. Wear airy, loose-fitting clothes if you have got to go outdoors, however it's better to stay away from direct sunlight.
Shut off all the lights and all other heat sources, such as the oven. Take a cool shower or bath, making sure you get your hair wet. Place a wet towel behind your neck, on your forehead, on the inside of your wrists and elbows, and on the backs of your knees. These points will naturally cool the rest of your body down.
If all else fails, go to the movies, mall, or other air-conditioned location. People have lived for thousands of years without AC. Roughing it for a couple of days should not be that difficult.
