Summer is almost here and Gig Harbor homeowners are getting ready. Barbeques and hours by the pool are essential and a lot of Gig Harbor residents spend time in their backyard come summertime. A garden abundant in pests is not quite as preferable as a garden abundant in summer flowers. Abrasive chemicals may cause cancer. Alternatively, try to use materials already in your home.

In a spray bottle, combine dishwashing soap and water to exterminate annoying aphids. Simply mist the leaves and stems of contaminated plants every couple of days and the aphids should be gone. You can even use this on slugs. A saltwater concoction can get rid of mites. Chili powder and water are a great way to battle ants and caterpillars.

Use the food chain if all else fails. Praying mantis eat all types of insects and ladybugs consume aphids, scales, and mites. Spiders, wasps, and bees may be scary, but will eliminate unwelcome bugs and are a part of a typical food chain. Using alternative products on your garden is better for you and your Gig Harbor home .
