Many Gig Harbor homeowners are getting ready for summer A lot of Gig Harbor residents spend time in their backyard come summertime. While a garden loaded with summer squash is fantastic, a garden rich in insects is not. Before you begin using toxic chemicals, which might cause cancer, try using products that are located around your home.

Mixing dishwashing soap and water into a spray bottle is a good way to eradicate pesky aphids. Every few days, spray the leaves and stems of infected plants and the aphids ought to be gone. Slugs could be treated this way as well. A saltwater concoction can get rid of mites. Chili powder and water are a great way to combat ants and caterpillars.

If all else fails, try using the food chain. Ladybugs feed on aphids, scales, and mites and praying mantis eat all sorts of bugs. Spiders, wasps, and bees can be scary, but are really a natural part of the food chain and can destroy unpleasant insects. Using alternative materials on your garden is smart for you and your Gig Harbor home .
