Summer is in full bloom. Energy to run the AC has become scarce as heat waves sweep through much of the U.S. There are numerous things you can do to cool off if your Gig Harbor home is without an AC.

First, place something frozen in your hand for as long as you can. This is going to lower you body temperature by as much as 3 degrees Fahrenheit and will last for more than an hour. Stop if it starts to hurt. Drink lots of H2O, even if you are not thirsty. You need to compensate for all of the fluids depleted from sweating. Wear airy, loose-fitting clothing if you have to go outside, but it's smart to avoid direct sunlight.

Turn off all heat sources such as lights or the computer. Get your hair wet by taking a cool shower or bath. Place a damp towel behind your neck, on your forehead, on the inside of your wrists and elbows, and on the backs of your knees. The rest of your body will naturally cool down by cooling these points.

Go to the library, mall, or other air-conditioned place if everything else fails. Roughing it for a couple of days should not be that hard. After all, people have lived for thousands of years without AC.
