Some Gig Harbor home owners are living off the earth. Based on data from the United States Department of Agriculture's Economic Research Service, farm living has increased at the rate of 2 percent a year. Most owners aren't interested in farming for money.

Farm living isn't for everybody, mostly because it requires a lot of hard work. Isolation is another explanation of why people stay away from moving to a farm. Nevertheless, living on a farm could be for you. That is, if you enjoy open space and are seeking out a challenge.
